So you did it. You clicked over to our shop and picked up a big bag of KNOW Better Sweetener. You've used it to sweeten your coffee and perhaps some less-than-perfect early season strawberries.
But now what?
Many alternative sweeteners can be challenging to work with. Some have strong aftertastes and others need to be substituted for sugar at very specific ratios.
Because KNOW Better Sweetener is made with allulose, it behaves differently. It requires no extra math or any additional ingredients to cover up a funky flavor. All you need to do is swap it out for sugar in whatever it is you like to cook or bake. 1 cup sweetener = 1 cup sugar. Easy.
In case you need a starting point, though, we've developed a few simple recipes using our sweetener. Read on to get cooking.
If you're an almond butter fiend (hello, me), you've likely realized how darn expensive the good stuff can be. Instead of shelling out the big bucks for organic, sugar free nut butter, make it at home. It's actually super easy. You just need to remember these three secrets: First, always roast your almonds and grind them while they're still hot. Second, always add a hefty pinch of salt. Third, don't forget a sprinkle or two of KNOW Better Sweetener to balance the subtle bitterness of the nuts. It'll add a hint of sweetness without impacting your insulin or blood sugar. Triple win.
This picnic staple is usually loaded down with sugar, and, if you're buying it pre-made, plenty of frankenfoods. Making macaroni salad at home is not that much more difficult than picking up a pint, and when you make it using our quick-cooking chickpea pasta, comes together in a matter of minutes. Make sure to seek out a jar of sugar-free mayonnaise made with either olive oil or avocado oil, such as Primal Kitchen.
Our favorite topping for a sheet cake made from our KNOW Better Mix? A generous slather of cream cheese frosting. The base recipe uses just three ingredients — cream cheese (duh), butter and KNOW Better Sweetener — but you can add just about anything you like to make it your own. A scoop of unsweetened cocoa turns it chocolatey and a squeeze of lemon makes for a perfect topping for carrot cake or banana bread.
Really want to take your dessert up a notch? Bake a batch of bread pudding, made with our KNOW Better Waffles, to impress your friends, family, or just yourself (real talk). This recipe is fairly traditional, other than the waffles part, so there's a fair amount of sweetener involved. Just make sure to stock up on another bag so you'll have enough leftover for coffee on Monday.
This simple homemade cookie recipe gets its sweetness from KNOW Better Syrup and some chocolate chips, obviously. Made with a blend of almond and coconut flour, he dough base is similar to our KNOW Better Cookies, but with a slimmer profile. Make a big batch on Sunday and pack one for lunch every day of the week.
